Anna is an Associate Solicitor in the Constructing and Engineering Team at BPE Solicitors LLP, having worked at the firm for 5 years.  Her role involves advising employers/clients, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and funders in respect of both project work and disputes.  On the procurement side, Anna helps clients to draft, tender and negotiate contracts (typically JCT, NEC3 or FIDIC although she also has experience with bespoke documents) and ancillary documents (collateral warranties, funding documents etc).  Many clients also ask Anna for help in providing risk analysis of documents on which they are being asked to tender, enabling them to give more accurate pricing and manage their own strategy.  On the dispute side, she regularly advises in respect of issues in the three main areas: time, cost and quality. Wherever possible Anna helps clients to achieve negotiated or mediated settlement but also has experience in adjudication and TCC proceedings.  Anna is known for providing quick and commercial advice focussing on what really matters to her clients. As Vice Chair to the Constructing Excellence Gloucestershire Committee, Anna is committed to helping the Club go from strength to strength.

Mark is a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Builder and Project Manager with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry working for Main Contractor and Consultant organisations. He has led a wide variety of projects across all industry sectors blending his quantity surveying and project delivery skills to optimise project outcomes. He is founder and managing director of Vitruvius Management Services Ltd, a specialist constructing consultancy based in Cheltenham providing client focused Project, Commercial and Construction management services. Vitruvius actively builds effective delivery teams around project specific requirements and is a keen exponent of collaborative working. Mark promotes innovative working practices on his projects and uses Building Information Modelling (BIM) to add value through multi-disciplinary working by providing interactive cost advice and project management support. This approach has delivered efficiencies in the project process and increased value to project stakeholders. He is an ambassador for Gloucestershire LEP and is a member of the South West Regional board of the RICS.

David is a Director of E.G.Carter and Co.Ltd and has worked for the family firm for nearly 30 years. During this time he has fulfilled a number of roles and has a wide understanding of the construction Industry but his main role has been on the purchasing side. David oversee a team of six who are responsible for the scheduling and purchasing of all the company’s material and plant hire requirements and through this role has extensive knowledge of Supply Chains, Partnering Agreements, Supplier Evaluation, Performance measurement and Continuous Improvement Techniques.

David is also responsible for the Company’s Joinery Division, Fleet of vehicles, Environmental Policy and Insurances. He is also a member of the Health and Safety Working Party.

Over 40 years experience in the electrical contracting industry starting as an apprentice and working on various projects from new secondary schools to mechanised farm processing plants, factory developments and Crown Properties such as Greenham Common Airbase, Fairford Airbase, South Cerney Barracks and RAF Innsworth. Stewart progressed to project manager and estimator working on fast turn-around projects such as Public House restaurant new builds, refurbishments and Superstore’s liasing with clients across the country. Now taking care of Health & Safety (RAMS & Site Audits), Apprentice Development, Electrical Certification & Company Accreditation (Chas, Constructionline, Gas-safe etc). Rugby fanatic and “GLAWS” supporter.

Jon is a Consultant Solicitor at Keystone Law and a Construction and Engineering specialist, handling both contentious and non-contentious legal work with particular expertise in energy-related issues, infrastructure, precision engineering and cyber security installations. His casework involves him drafting internationally recognised contracts, providing procurement advice and advising on disputes both within the UK and overseas. He can also provide clients with strategic support in rationalising the procurement of their supply chain risk, or advise on risk with regards to where that lies within their own contracts for tender.

 

In addition, Jon assists with payment and liability issues on projects, often alongside clients providing real-time support under time pressure. An ADR accredited mediator, Jon often advises clients on alternative ways to resolve disputes avoiding the litigation process. He is, however, also a TeCSA member (Technology and Construction Solicitors’ Association) and a regular user of the TCC with vast experience of High Court litigious matters, whenever the need arises for clients to engage him in a more formal dispute resolution arena.

Nick is an Area Contracts Manager with Kier Construction Central and has over  26 years of experience within the industry. Following his graduation in Civil Engineering with Building Bias, he has worked on a variety of projects including Retail, Residential, Commercial, Education, Judicial and Leisure; these being across private and public section including Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice and BSF programmes. He brings a wealth of experience and a practical hands on approach to management of the client, project team and delivery. Although new to the Constructing Excellence Gloucester Club, having joined the committee at this years AGM, he is committed in promoting the club and excellence in construction.

Andy is Aftercare Manager with the Partnership Housing Division of E.G.Carter and has over  27 years of experience within the industry. Following his graduation with an Honours Degree in Building Studies, he has worked on a variety of projects including Retail, Residential, Commercial, Education, Refurbishment Leisure and Insured Loss. He has worked across both private and public sectors, with companies including Costain Management Design Ltd, Barnwood Construction Ltd and E.G.Carter and Co Ltd. He has worked for the latter for a period of 17 years, during which he has worked in all divisions, Major Works, General Works, Property Services and in his current position within Partnership Housing . He joined the committee of the Constructing Excellence Gloucester Club, after last year’s AGM.

Sean is currently Business Development Director at Rodgers Leask Ltd. Originally trained as a hydrogeologist, he has over 30 years experience in major civil engineering projects and Brownfield site redevelopment. High profile UK projects include; construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, deep well testing for the Sellafield Deep Repository, Channel Tunnel High Speed Rail Link (HS1), technical support to DEFRA during Foot & Mouth (Carcass Disposal), Redevelopment of the Former MG Motor Works at Longbridge. Overseas experience includes management of projects in Europe, Africa, Brazil and China. He lives in Gloucestershire with his wife and family.

Steve is an independent Chartered Quantity Surveyor and CDM Advisor with over 45 years’ experience in the construction industry. A Quantity Surveyor with Gloucestershire County Council for over twenty years and the remaining time in Private Practice or a Self Employed Consultant. This has given him varied experience over a wide range of sectors and project values. He became involved in CDM since its inception in 1994 as Planning Supervisor, followed by CDM Coordinator and now, with the introduction of the 2015 CDM Regulations, acts as Principal Designer and CDM Advisor. Steve gives guidance to Clients, Designers and Contractors regarding CDM duties.

Robert is an Associate Director at Quattro Design Architects. During his time at Quattro he has led on a diverse range of projects in the Education, Residential, Extra Care and Healthcare sectors, but his primary focus is being the team lead for Quattro’s Healthcare sector team. As an Associate Director his responsibilities range from design concept and design management, to managing the company’s operational and financial aspects along with the Directors and fellow Associate Director. Most recently he has successfully implemented the company’s strategic shift to be fully Building Information Modelling (BIM) level 2 capable across all of its sectors, and is now working closely with clients, contractors and other consultants to further develop and tailor the BIM services Quattro provides. In addition to this he takes a keen interest in the companies key involvement in the Gloucestershire LEP and the Gloucestershire, and South West regions CIOB.
